Due to a security glitch with some plugins with WordPress 2.8 please update to WordPress 2.8.1 now to make sure your secure.
As well as this fix the following has been changed/added
- Certain themes were calling get_categories() in such a way that it would fail in 2.8. 2.8.1 works around this so these themes won’t have to change.
- Dashboard memory usage is reduced. Some people were running out of memory when loading the dashboard, resulting in an incomplete page.
- The automatic upgrade no longer accidentally deletes files when cleaning up from a failed upgrade.
- A problem where the rich text editor wasn’t being loaded due to compression issues has been worked around.
- Extra security has been put in place to better protect you from plugins that do not do explicit permission checks.
- Translation of role names fixed.
- wp_page_menu() defaults to sorting by the user specified menu order rather than the page title.
- Upload error messages are now correctly reported.
- Autosave error experienced by some IE users is fixed.
- Styling glitch in the plugin editor fixed.
- SSH2 filesystem requirements updated.
- Switched back to curl as the default transport.
- Updated the translation library to avoid a problem with mbstring.func_overload.
- Stricter inline style sanitization.
- Stricter menu security.
- Disabled code highlighting due to browser incompatibilities.
- RTL layout fixes.

Did you know the super quick, in it’s day, XFX 8800 ultra XXX make for a great paperweight?
It did make for a better graphics card but unfortunately a combination of heat and dust means mine is now no better than a very expensive brick.
The lesson here is overclocking plus a dusty room, I’m decorating, equals dead graphics card.
Ah well, at least I’ve got an excuse to buy that 4870 x2 I’ve been eyeing up and scan have a cracking price at the moment 4870×2

In case you’ve been living under a rock, well one without an internet connection, iPhone 3.0 is out today.
The iPhone os upgrade promisies lots of new shiny features and to bring on board some it missed the first 2.2.1 times around.
Oh yes, mms, a landscape keyboard in Mail, Messages, Notes, and Safari and cut and paste are nearly here, with cut and paste the one I’ve been waiting for!
Of the new features voice memo is going to be very useful for the forgetful ones of us on the go.
The bluetooth compatibility will also make connecting in the car nice and easy.
If all goes well I should be upgraded this evening, are any of you sat at home click away at update button???

For all you wordpress bloggers 2.8 has just been release.
It has some major code changes to improve the speed and over 790 bug fixes.
The look is pretty much the same but there has been 120 changes, some minor and some pretty major ones.
So don’t hang about, go get it now! Wordpress 2.8

In the course of a week I get a huge amount of email and direct mail both at home and at work, pretty much par for the course working in marketing.
The majority is pretty similar with a few exceptions that catch your eye.
Personalisation is becoming more and more popular, especially as more data is held on file about us then ever before.
